Ledgers, GL & Subledgers
How double-entry, general ledger, and customer subledgers keep banks auditable—and how product events must map to postings.
Objectives
- ▸Explain double-entry at a practical level
- ▸Distinguish GL vs customer account subledgers
- ▸Map a simple payment to accounting entries
- ▸Specify suspense and clearing accounts in requirements
Every financial event posts balanced debits and credits. Customer deposits are liabilities of the bank; cash and nostro are assets. Product managers do not need to be accountants, but they must know when a feature creates unbalanced or unexplained suspense.
