Embedded Insurance
Offering cover inside non-insurance journeys—travel, commerce, mobility—without becoming a full-stack insurer overnight.
Objectives
- ▸Choose distributor vs MGA vs full insurer models
- ▸Design disclosure and consent at point of sale
- ▸Define claims ownership in partner ecosystems
- ▸Measure attach rate without coercive UX
Embedded insurance places relevant cover at the moment of need: trip cancellation with tickets, device protection with electronics, cargo cover with shipments. Platforms usually distribute; regulated insurers underwrite; TPAs may service claims.
- Distributor / corporate agent models: sell someone else’s policies.
- MGA: underwriting authority delegated within binders.
- Full stack: capital + licence—rare for startups initially.
